Ride to help make Sonoma County the best place for everyone to ride!
The first-ever I Bike Sonoma County Century, presented by Whole Foods Market, is set for June 22, 2013, and it’s the ride event you won’t want to miss this year.
Benefiting Sonoma County Bicycle Coalition, the I Bike Sonoma County Century offers something for everyone, so gather your friends and family, choose from four beautiful routes, and prepare to experience awesome riding and fabulous food in gorgeous Sonoma County!
By riding the I Bike Sonoma County Century, you help Sonoma County Bicycle Coalition (SCBC) make Sonoma County the best place to ride a bike. Since 2001, SCBC has promoted bicycling for transportation and recreation; its work helps make Sonoma County a safer, more accessible place for everyone – of any age or experience level – to enjoy the health benefits and fun of riding a bike.
How it works: At registration, you can choose to pay a flat fee and just ride.
Or, you can become a Fundraiser Super Hero: these riders pay a dramatically reduced fee and agree to raise a minimum amount of $250 in support of Sonoma County Bicycle Coalition. The top 11 fundraisers will receive a snazzy “Traffic Master” jersey from Sebastopol-based Elevengear. The top overall fundraiser wins a brand-new Novara road bike from REI!
The I Bike Sonoma County Century, presented by Whole Foods Market is a benefit for Sonoma County Bicycle Coalition. Just riding supports our efforts to make Sonoma County the best place to ride a bike, but as a fundraiser, you're a real Superhero in our book!
To make riding as a fundraiser possible for as many people as possible, we've done the following:
1. Set a $0 registration fee for those who commit to raising a minimum of $500.
2. Set a very low registration fee for those who commit to raising a minimum of $250.
And there are great incentives (and we're working on more!): 1. Every fundraiser rider will receive a I Bike Sonoma County Century t-shirt. Choose your size at registration.
2. The top 11 fundraiser riders will receive an awesome Traffic Master jersey from Elevengear.
3. The top fundraiser will receive a Novara road bike from REI. (Choose from the Strada or the women's specific Carema)
If you feel intimidated by the idea of fundraising, it's understandable. But you can totally do it! In fact, it can be fun (especially if you get a little competitive about it). Here are some pointers:
Whole Foods Markets Sonoma County, SCBC team up to present first annual century ride
We're thrilled to announce that on Saturday, June 22nd, 2013, Sonoma County Bicycle Coalition is teaming up with Whole Foods Markets Sonoma County to bring you an awesome century bicycle ride experience.
Whole Foods operates five stores in Sonoma County: Coddingtown and Yulupa, Sebastopol, Petaulma, and Sonoma. All five markets have come together to be the presenting sponsor of The I Bike Sonoma County Century. In addition, Whole Foods in 2012 provided a $10,000 cash sponsorship of SCBC's educational outreach programs.
The I Bike Sonoma County Century will feature amazing food, a fun festival, and four routes (100, 65, 35, 18 miles) on some of the most beautiful roads and trails our County has to offer.
You won't want to miss this ride, so mark your calendar now. Registration opens on February 7th: stay tuned for details.
SCBC is pleased to announce that we've contracted with Ride Director Terrie Johnson, who is handling the nuts and bolts of planning The Whole Ride. Terrie was for many years the ride coordinator for American Lung Association's "Breathe Easy" ride, and we're thrilled to have her on our team. If you're interested in learning how you can support the ride by volunteering (either in advance of the ride, day of the ride, or after the ride), please email Terrie at terrie_johnson@comcast.net.
We are committed to producing a stellar event, so that you'll be stoked to ride is support of your local bicycle advocacy organization -- Sonoma County Bicycle Coalition!
