The Sonoma County Safe Routes to School program's annual International Walk & Roll to School Day promotion on October 3rd saw stunningly high participation this year. More than 12,000 students at more than 70 schools pedaled, walked, skated, and scooted to school that day, joined by dozens of faculty and staff, parent and community volunteers, and elected leaders. The 2012 event drew the highest participation in the history of Walk & Roll to School Day in Sonoma County. Sonoma County Bicycle Coalition's Safe Routes to School program, Safe Kids Sonoma County, and eco2school (a program of Climate Protection campaign) collaborate to produce Walk & Roll to School Day. SCBC thanks everyone who came together to inspire 12,000 kids to walk and roll to school! Read the Press Democrat coverage.
