Santa Rosa would not have Taco Tuesday without Mitote.
Mitote Food Park on Sebastopol Avenue is the mid-ride stopping point for the hugely popular Taco Tuesday Ride. The weekly ride brings as many as 400 cyclists, who descend on the food park nearly all at once looking not only for something to eat but also a place to socialize with friends.
Bill Petty, a Taco Tuesday regular, said Mitote’s integral role became especially apparent earlier this year when the park closed temporarily while it was changing locations. Owner Octavio Diaz has accommodated the group by installing bike racks, bringing in extra trucks and hosting other events sponsored by the Taco Tuesday organizers.
“They welcome us with open arms,” Petty said.
