One hundred folks gathered September 12th at the SOMO Village Event Center to celebrate local achievements in bicycle advocacy at our third annual Golden Spoke Awards. After a delicious dinner catered by Sally Tomatoes and a word from Presenting Sponsor Brad Baker of SOMO Village, Executive Director Eris Weaver and Board President David Williams handed out awards for
- Bike Champion of the Year: Matt Fritzinger of Blue Tailed Skinks.
- Civic Bike Leaders of the Year: Dan Hennessy, Torina Wilson, and Alexander Oceguera with Santa Rosa Transportation and Public Works.
- Bike Friendly Business of the Year: Mitote Food Park.
- Bike Infrastructure Project of the Year: SMART Multiuse Pathway gap closures.
- Lifetime Commitment Award: Christine Culver.
Each awardee also received a certificate of recognition signed by State Senators Mike McGuire and Chris Cabaldon and Assemblymembers Chris Rogers and Damon Connolly. The evening ended with a short live auction, lots of smiles, and anticipation for next year.
