Advocacy Roundup 1/18/23

Share your concerns about cycling in Penngrove

Are you concerned about traffic speeds on Old Redwood Highway? Would you like to see bike lanes on Old Adobe Road? Or a crossing at Railroad Avenue and Petaluma Hill Road? The county is launching a traffic study in the Penngrove area, and is looking for your input. The study is intended to identify and prioritize infrastructure improvements in the area.

Add your comments relating to traffic, cycling or pedestrian infrastructure to this interactive map, and stay tuned for information on a town hall meeting this spring.

City Thread on its way to Sonoma County

Cycling advocates in Petaluma and Santa Rosa have officially begun working with City Thread, a Denver-based consulting firm that works with city staff and community members to accelerate local active transportation efforts.

Two local community organizations – Safe Streets Petaluma and Bikeable Santa Rosa – raised money last year to match grant funding offered by City Thread. The consultants will come to the area for site visits later this month, and will then spend the next several months developing plans to help identify shared goals and strengthen collaboration.

The Sonoma County Bicycle Coalition is pleased to be involved in these efforts, and looks forward to sharing more of the process as it moves forward.
