Cotati’s Updated Active Transportation Plan Moves Forward

The first draft of Cotati’s updated Active Transportation Plan is now available for review. When complete, this plan will guide the development of the city’s bicycle and pedestrian network for the next several years.

The draft, which includes a network map along with a list of projects, policies and programs, was recently presented at a community workshop at the Cotati SMART station, as well as the March 12 City Council meeting. It will next be presented at the Monday, March 18 Planning Commission meeting.

The Sonoma County Bicycle Coalition has shared its feedback in a letter to city staff and elected officials. We urge the city to prioritize projects on roads with a history of crashes or high levels of traffic stress to ensure that cyclists are able to easily and safely get to the places they need to go. We also emphasize the need to adopt the standards of the National Association of City Transportation Officials (NACTO) for bikeway design that is comfortable for cyclists of all ages and abilities.

Read the Cotati draft plan and share your thoughts by Sunday, March 24 here.

All jurisdictions in Sonoma County are currently undergoing an active transportation plan update, and we will continue to share news on this process.
