On Sunday, May 21st, we celebrated Bike Month with our Bike Education Station and a free helmet giveaway at the Windsor Farmer’s Market Kidz Day. Thanks to generous donations from the Windsor Lion’s Club and the Town of Windsor Safe Routes to School program, over 70 helmets were distributed and fit! Over 90 children and 80 adults had the opportunity to ask our League Cycling Certified instructors anything they wanted to know about bicycling, spin the “Bicycling Wheel of Knowledge,” and get information about safe cycling or upcoming events. Thrilled with the turnout, Market Manager Tina Castelli said,“The Windsor Certified Farmers Market loves working with the Sonoma County Bicycle Coalition at our spring Kidz Day event! With summer vacation approaching, we share your desire to keep kids safe on the streets while riding their bikes.”
We deploy our Bike Education Station, by request, at events targeting families. If you are connected with an event and would like to request our presence, please contact saferoutes@bikesonoma.org.
