Hundreds of Fire Victims Receive New Bikes in Time for Christmas

The SCBC is proud to have joined alongside public responders and community members on December 6 at Sonoma’s Highway 12 Winery’s Warehouse to help distribute upwards of 700 bicycles to adults and children who lost their homes and belongings in the fires. Attendees also received free helmets and water bottles!

In an impressive and heartwarming display of support, firefighters from several Marin, Sonoma and CALFIRE fire departments organized and staffed the giveaway, with donations and support from Giant Bicycle, Mike’s Bikes, Kali Protectives, SCBC and many other community groups and individuals too numerous to list.

The December 6 giveaway was just one of several recent collaborative efforts to get bikes to those in need, including by the North Bay Bike Project, Specialized Bicycles, Trail House Santa Rosa, NorCal Bike Sport, Breakaway Bikes, The Bike Peddler, King Ridge Foundation, Sycip, Bike Monkey, B-Rad Foundation, Hub Cyclery, Dynacraft Wheels, Bicycles for Humanity, Salvation Army Santa Rosa, Slater Middle School, Innovative Screen Printing and Embroidery, Epicenter Sports, and others!

Plus, on January 6, SCBC will be partnering with Trek Store of Santa Rosa and Redwood Empire Mountain Bike Alliance to give away hundreds of Trek children’s bikes and helmets to pre-approved families impacted by the fires (registration for these bikes and event is now closed). We’ll also be providng an on-bike safety course for kiddos receiving bikes!
