International Walk & Roll to School Day is October 7!

International Walk & Roll to School Day is on Wednesday, October 7, and kids from 61 schools all over Sonoma County will be walking and rolling to school to celebrate!

Dozens of students and families will participate in Walking School Buses and Bike Trains, which allow students, families and teachers to meet at a central location and travel together in a supervised and visible group. It’s a great way for students who may live a little further away from their school to be involved.

Walk & Roll to School events help decrease school traffic congestion, create healthy lifestyle habits and build connections between families, schools and the broader community. The 61 schools that have registered with the Safe Routes to School program received a swag bag full of pencils, pencil sharpeners, erasers, stickers and notebooks as well as a colorful banner announcing their Walk & Roll Day. All swag bags were filled and delivered to the schools by our amazing volunteers. Many schools will have a festive welcome table to acknowledge students that arrive in a green way to school, and they will have their pick of these fun prizes.

So, on October 7, look for local students in your community out there enjoying themselves while they walk and roll to school!
