The four-year bike lane pilot on the Richmond-San Rafael Bridge is coming to a close. This pathway has provided a safe means for North Bay folks to cycle to the East Bay and vice versa. There are some business groups and lawmakers arguing that the lane should be turned into a third vehicle lane; their arguments include absurd claims that the bike lane causes more pollution in Richmond than another vehicle lane would. You can read more details in this blog post by our colleagues at Marin County Bicycle Coalition (MCBC).
This Wednesday, 11/8/2023 @ 9:30 a.m., the Bay Area Toll Authority Oversight Committee will meet to discuss the issue. You can attend the meeting via Zoom or click here to send an email comment by 5 pm Tuesday. (Our Sonoma County representative on that body is Santa Rosa Councilmember Victoria Fleming.)
MCBC is collaborating with Marin Cylists and Rich City Rides on a bike ride and rally on Saturday November 11; details here.
