Spring is here, which means longer and warmer days, bright blue skies and colorful blooms all around! Safe Routes to School is celebrating the start of this beautiful season with our new Go Green! Transportation Challenge to encourage kids and families of Sonoma County to be as active and green in their school transportation choices as possible.
Students are asked to keep track of the days that they walk, roll or bus to school now through the end of April. Use this form to record and submit your info. Every time you skip riding in the car, your chances of winning fun prizes will increase! At the end of April, we will hold a drawing to find out who our lucky student winners are.
I plan on joining in on this challenge to support the kids and see how many days I can skip the car and walk, ride my bike or take public transit instead. I’ll be posting my non-car adventures on our Sonoma County Safe Routes Facebook and Instagram pages and would love to see pictures of you leaving cars behind too! So, get out of your car, get outside, enjoy the lovely spring weather — and feel free to tag us in your photos!
