BIKE the VOTE!

Voice your support for a more bike-friendly Sonoma County on Election Day, November 3, 2026.

As a 501(c)3 nonprofit organization, SCBC cannot endorse candidates for public office, but we are able to share information about candidates’ experience, views and priorities with regard to bicycling. We have distributed the following questions to all city and county candidates running in this year’s election:

  1. Do you ride a bicycle in Sonoma County for transportation or recreation? How would you characterize the experience of cycling here?
  2. What are your community’s/Sonoma County’s biggest transportation challenges, and how does bicycling fit into your vision of future development?
  3. If elected, what will you do to improve cycling safety and encourage more people in the county to ride?
  4. Our visions and goals are often tempered by available budgets, staff time and public focus. How will you seek to balance improving bicycle and pedestrian infrastructure and safety with your other policy priorities?
  5. Are there any specific projects in your jurisdiction – either planned or imagined – that you are particularly excited to see implemented?

We have posted all of the responses we’ve received so far, and will continue to post any additional responses we receive.

We CAN, however, take positions on ballot measures relevant to our mission. We heartily support Ballot Measure H, Sonoma County Parks for All. This measure extends the Measure M sales tax, which was passed by voters in 2018 and sunsets in 2029. Two thirds of the tax revenue goes to Sonoma County Regional Parks – the stewards of many of our bike facilities like Joe Rodota Trail, West County Trail, etc. as well as trails in Foothill, Spring Lake, Monte Rio Redwoods, and Taylor Mountain Regional Parks. The remainder goes to our nine cities for other sorts of park improvements. (There has been NO argument submitted against Measure H!)
