Record Attendance at CHP Safety Fair/Bike Rodeo!

Over 300 people (183 kids/124 adults) participated in our Bike Rodeo at the California Highway Patrol’s 2nd annual Roseland Health and Safety Fair this past Saturday, September 9th – our highest attendance yet for a Community Bike Rodeo. Free helmets (donated by the CHP) were distributed to over 200 participants; over 85 kids received on-bicycle training on our supervised skill/safety course,; and over 40 participants received free bicycle safety checks/repairs donated by NorCal Bike Sport/The Bike Peddler.  We were joined by our rail safety education partners at Operation Lifesaver, who set up an information table and helped provide on-bike rail crossing instruction on our skills course.  Thank you to the awesome volunteers from SCBC, Technology High School, Rancho Cotati High School, and the CHP Explorers Program who supported this event, assisting with registration, helmet fittings, and course monitoring – we couldn’t do it without you! Our next Community Bike Rodeo is on Saturday, 9/23 from 10:00am-1:00pm at the Healdsburg Community Center. If you are interested in volunteering, contact saferoutes@bikesonoma.org!
