New Leadership Coming to the Sonoma County Bicycle Coalition

Dear Members of the Sonoma County Bicycle Community,

After considerable thought, I have made the bittersweet decision to step down from my role as the Executive Director of the Sonoma County Bicycle Coalition. I tremendously value the SCBC, the important work that we do, and our amazing supporters and volunteers. I take this step with full confidence that the organization is in great hands with our talented and dedicated staff and board of directors, and I am confident in their ability to identify the key qualities in our next leader which will allow the organization to continue to thrive and grow.

Today, I wish to thank you for what we have achieved together these past two years. Among many accomplishments, we fought to ensure adequate bike accommodation on SMART and at Stations, produced a 3-Foot Passing Law PSA video which saw over 200K views, improved safety for cyclists and pedestrians using the Joe Rodota Trail, ensured continued bike access on Fitch Mountain, played a key role in the passage of the Great Redwood Trail Act, implemented our first round of Bike Friendly Business Awards, and so much more. During this time, we also saw our membership increase by over 200 members, successfully secured a 5-year contract for our Safe Routes to School Program, expanded our Valet Bike Parking Program by over 300 percent, brought on a new Outreach and Events Coordinator, AND we had some really great times!

I have no doubt that all the elements are in place for staff, board, and members like you to build upon our past successes, and to take the Coalition to new heights. We’ll be posting the formal Executive Director job announcement very soon. If you have questions or suggestions in the meantime, please email them to jobs@bikesonoma.org.

As we take on the search for our next talented and dynamic leader, you can help grow the movement by joining or renewing your membership, making a donation, or becoming a volunteer. Thank you for all that you do to make Sonoma County the best place to ride a bike!

Sincerely,

Alisha O’Loughlin
